In back-up, cloud, iphone

When I first got an Iphone I understood how we where all about to take the next step. The cloud is now no longer a concept or a business tool, it is the future of computing. Devices must become transparent with the could, the Iphone is the best example of this. Computing is now following this path. The Ipad, all but worthless when separated from the cloud. The Chromebook takes a step in the cloud direction.

As business systems are moved to this direction cost and stress are pushed to the providers. Maintaining a connection to those providers is critical but with it we all win. OpenDNS is a great example. Cloud based firewall means if it cannot come into the local network maintaining a firewall on each machine becomes less critical. Lesson the redundancy of local processes and you lesson the strain on your local computers. The more you send to the cloud the faster you go.

Data Back-up has always been a strain on small businesses. With services like Carbonite this all goes away. No more need for storage space or worrying about an off-site copy. Where a cloud based back-up service is implemented you can
literally forget about doing a back-up.

The cloud has moved to our hand with the iphone. When I changed My Documents to my DropBox I knew there is no looking back. I may never need to buy a real computer again. If if my task requires a non-cloud friendly app I can just log into my Server with Logmein. Soon we will have portal desktop’s at affordable prices. Then the computer world will be a different place.
