Confirm Your Google Business Profile Links to Your Website Using HTTPS

Google has recently started enforcing policies that may lead to the removal of HTTP website URLs from Google Business Profiles.

This enforcement is part of their broader efforts to improve site security and user trust, encouraging businesses to use HTTPS instead of HTTP.

Although the general announcements do not detail specific documentation on the enforcement of business profile URLs, this aligns with Google's push for higher security standards across its services (Search Engine Land).

If your Google Business Profile doesn't have an HTTPS link, update that as soon as possible so that users can access your website from your profile.

How to check if you have an HTTPS link:

  • Right-clicking this button on your Google Business Profile.
  • Select "Copy link address."
  • Paste the URL into any text editor.
  • If it is set up properly, it should be formatted as https://www.yourdomain.com or https://yourdomain.com

You can check the Google Business Profile Help Center for an overview of Google Business Profile policies.  Ensure that your listing is compliant with all Google Policies prior to updating your listing.
